Perat Stream (Wadi Qelt) Nature Reserve
An intermittent spring, with water levels rising and falling at various intervals, En Maboa spring is known as “Ein Fawar” in Arabic. Both the Hebrew and Arabic names have a similar meaning: “bubbling spring”. The freshwater fills the cracks in the rock of the riverbed and disappears. It reappears at various times as the spring reemerges, depending upon the amount of rainfall in any given season. In a wet winter, the cycle of emptying and refilling is less frequent, as there is more water to keep the spring full. Watching the periodic changes in the spring level is a fascinating and unforgettable experience.
